Suffolk Chess

He plays for Linton in the Bury Area League, but many Suffolk players will know and respect John Dawson, who celebrates his 90th birthday today!

John not only plays whenever he can (he has already played 36 graded games this season), but he also captains Cambridgeshire's Under 100 team.

John is a prime example of how playing chess can keep your brain active and alert.   Always ready to give a quick and witty response, I asked him recently when his birthday was; he immediately replied 31st April.   He did relent, however, and reluctantly told me it was actually the 11th.
